NEW YEAR: THE TRUE STORY OF ORIGIN
The celebration of the New Year is the oldest of all holidays.
YTD not always the beginning of the year was held on the date on which it grew up inclusive, there are still many people today who celebrate it between the beginning of March and the end of April as in Iran, Iraq and India.
It was first celebrated in ancient Babylon about 4000 years ago. The Babylonian New Year began with the first new moon (the first new moon) after the first day of spring (vernal equinox).
Considered the season of rebirth, it is very successful to be held at that time, since it is associated with the planting of new crops and other plants flourish.
The Babylonian new year celebration lasted for eleven days. Each day had its own style for recognition, which contrasts strikingly with the festivities today.
The Romans continued to celebrate the New Year in late March, but over time their calendar was continually modified by different emperors. Finally, the calendar was no longer synchronized with the sun.

FOOD IN NEW YEAR
There is a popular saying that "new year, new life", but there is a time when human beings tend to repeat traditions, is, among others, the change of year. Regardless of the calendar itself - as it responds to concrete historical circumstances, somewhat whimsical - fire and begin a new year is an event that all cultures considered paramount. So it is no surprise to find food and traditional New Year foods worldwide.
Hopin' John
As I never tire of pointing, the food goes hand in hand with the traditions and culture of man, accompanying him throughout history. Often plays a key role because of its symbolic importance, and although now increasingly abandoned beliefs and rites, there are certain traditional customs we maintain year after year. My partner told us a minuet and the specific source of our famous twelve grapes of luck, but today I invite you to discover some typical New Year meals from other cultures.
